Adding Radiation Damage produces athermal disorder. At lower T, vacancies cannot diffuse and cannot repair such radiation-induced disorder. Hence, phase loop pinches off and the alloy has a low-T disordered phase, rather than the normal thermal equilibrium phase diagram. See figure.
